Agriculture

Our agricultural work is rooted in Farming God’s Way, a biblical approach to farming that combines faithful stewardship of God’s creation with practical agricultural principles. Through hands-on training, we equip Haitian farmers with the knowledge and skills to improve their harvests and care for their land. We also invite farmers to visit FARM Haiti’s demonstration gardens, where they can see these methods in action, compare the results with traditional farming practices, and witness firsthand the difference Farming God’s Way can make.

Demonstration Gardens

Our demonstration gardens give farmers, agronomists, and students from agricultural schools an opportunity to see Farming God’s Way in action. We plant a traditional Haitian garden alongside a garden using Farming God’s Way methods, allowing visitors to compare the results for themselves.

By using mulch to retain moisture, protect the soil, and reduce weeds, along with compost and manure to improve soil fertility, we demonstrate how simple, sustainable practices can make a difference.

One of my favorite moments is watching agronomy students visit our demonstration gardens. I’ve seen students stand between the two plots, studying the differences, and then literally turn their backs on the traditional garden to focus their attention entirely on the Farming God’s Way plot. It’s a powerful moment to witness. Without saying a word, their actions reveal just how striking the comparison can be.

These visits give farmers, agronomists, and future agricultural leaders an opportunity to see the results firsthand and consider the possibilities for their own communities.

Gardens of Faithfulness: Growing Food at Home

Gardens of Faithfulness are small, 1 by 2 meter gardens planted right outside the home, making fresh vegetables easily accessible for daily meals. These gardens help provide families with much-needed nutrients.

As part of our Farming God’s Way training, FARM Haiti teaches families how to plant and care for these gardens. Our desire is to see a Garden of Faithfulness at every home in Haiti.

Youth Gardens

At FARM Haiti, 25 young people are learning to grow their own food through hands-on gardening. They develop practical farming skills, responsibility, and the opportunity to help support their families.

One day, Michel arrived at FARM Haiti wearing a beautiful new shirt and a big smile. He proudly told us he had bought it with money earned from selling vegetables from his garden. Another young man, Adlin, shared that selling his produce helped pay for his schoolbooks.

These are the moments that remind us why we do what we do. Our youth are not just growing vegetables. They are gaining confidence, learning to provide for themselves, and discovering what they can accomplish through their own hard work.

Livestock and Income Generation

In 2026, FARM Haiti launched our goat project, beginning with seven goats. Our goal is to develop livestock operations that generate income to help cover FARM Haiti’s ongoing operating expenses in Haiti.

Looking ahead, we plan to expand our goat herd and begin raising broiler chickens and pigs. These projects are another step toward making FARM Haiti more financially self-sufficient and sustainable for the future.
