Agriculture

A large percentage of materially poor people worldwide are farmers.  They have learned farming from their fathers, who learned from their fathers.  Systems that once worked no longer produce adequate crops to feed their families.  Cutting of trees for cooking has created problems with erosion and fertile topsoil has been washed into the ocean.

FARM Haiti is focused on producing healthy, nutrient rich vegetables using a method called Farming God’s Way.

Farming God’s Way is an amazing Godly solution to the food security and poverty crisis for the rural poor.  It was designed before man was on the face of the earth, when God put His laws in place to govern His creation and their inter-relations with one another.  God is the master farmer and He has been farming this way since the beginning.

It is a well-balanced biblical, management and technological solution for the agricultural domain, to equip the poor to come out of poverty, with what God has put in their hands and to reveal the fullness of His promised abundant life.

Demonstration Gardens

Demonstration gardens are used to show farmers the impact that using the Farming God’s Way method can make.  We plant a traditional Haitian style garden alongside a Farming God’s Way plot. As farmers and agronomists visit, they can see with their own eyes the outcomes of both systems.  The results stand for themselves. The Farming God’s Way method uses mulch which help holds the moisture in the soil, keeps the weeds away, keeps the soil cooler and decomposes which adds much needed nutrients back into the soil.  We also add inputs (manure or compost) into the soil.

We have seen yields increasing 100-fold when using the Farming God’s Way system over tradional farming methods.

Gardens of Faithfulness

Gardens of Faithfulness are gardens outside the homes, easily accessible for daily use. They are 1 x 2 meters plots used to plant the most used vegetables, providing families with much needed nutrients.

FARM Haiti offers training on how to plant and take care of Gardens of Faithfulness.  We desire every house in Haiti to have one.

Vegetable Gardens

Being able to feed their families with nutritious food is essential for improving the lives of Haitians.  With the help of Hope Seeds, we have provided hundreds of families with seed packs and have held training seminars on the proper ways to plant and care for the seeds.  We also teach the importance of having a home garden, so vegetables are easily accessible when cooking.

FARM Haiti has 3 acres of vegetable garden in production, using the Farming God’s Way principles.  Most of the vegetable in Pignon are imported from other areas of the country. Our goal is to have a year-around supply of good nutritious vegetable available for purchase.
