Through Seeds Today, Leaders Tomorrow, young people are learning to grow their own food, care for God’s creation, and discover what they’re capable of accomplishing. But the gardens are just the beginning.
Through Farming God’s Way, nutritious meals, discipleship, and hands-on mentoring, we’re walking alongside these young people as they grow in faith, character, responsibility, and confidence. Our hope is that the seeds we’re planting today will grow into a new generation of leaders who will strengthen their families and communities for years to come.
One Boy. One Moment. A New Beginning.
Billy was already part of FARM Haiti’s youth garden program. He was a cheerful, hardworking boy who loved helping Mary in the gardens. But one day, something was different.
Instead of working alongside her as he usually did, Billy sat alone on a cement block about 20 feet away, quietly playing with a little red rag. He wasn’t working. He wasn’t smiling. Something was clearly troubling him.
Mary soon learned that Billy’s mother was struggling to provide for her children and was considering sending them to an orphanage. Billy was deeply upset, and the other children had been teasing him about it.
The thought of a family being separated because of poverty weighed heavily on Mary’s heart. For two days, she struggled with one question: What can we do?
That moment became a turning point for FARM Haiti. Teaching children to grow food was important, but Mary realized they needed more. They needed nutritious meals, encouragement, and someone willing to walk alongside them and their families.
What began with a concern for one boy helped inspire a greater vision—one that now provides meals, gardening opportunities, discipleship, and mentoring for young people, helping them grow into tomorrow’s leaders.
From One Boy to a Bigger Vision
Billy’s story helped shape what Seeds Today, Leaders Tomorrow has become today. What began with teaching young people to grow food has grown into something much more.
Each young person has a garden of their own, where they learn Farming God’s Way and experience the rewards of growing their own food. Alongside their gardens, FARM Haiti provides nutritious meals six days a week, Bible studies, and personal mentoring focused on discipleship and leadership development. We also provide quarterly medical clinics, including medications, helping care for the health and well-being of our youth and their families.
Together, these opportunities help young people discover their God-given potential and prepare them to become leaders in their families and communities.
